Separate Employee - Voluntary - Not Retirement

Action

1. 

Select the Manager Self-Service link.

 

The Manager Self-Service menu items display.

2. 

Select the Separations & Retirement link.

 

The menu expands to display different types of separations you may enter.

3. 

When the employee is 1) separating on his or her initiative, and, 2) the reason is something other than official retirement from your agency, select the Voluntary Separations link.

 

A list of your direct reports and any indirect reports display.

4. 

Select the employee who is separating.

5. 

Enter Separation Effective Date

 

Select the Calendar Icon.

 

A calendar will display with the current date highlighted.

6. 

Identify the last date the employee will work or use leave, the "Last Date Paid Through."

 

Add one day and this is the Separation Effective Date.

7. 

Select the date immediately following the "Last Date Paid Through," - the separation effective date.

  

The "Last Date Paid Through" calculates to be one day less than the Separation Effective Date.

8. 

Enter Last Date Physically Worked

 

The last date physically worked is the last date the employee worked all or some of his or her scheduled hours.

  

Select the Calendar Icon.

 

A calendar with the current date highlighted displays.

9. 

Select the last date on which the employee worked all or some of his or scheduled work hours. 

10. 

Select the Separation Reason

 

Select the Dropdown Arrow for the Reason for Separation field.

 

A dropdown list of separation reasons will display.

11. 

Select the reason for separation that best summarizes what you know to be the employee's reason for separation.

 

For this example, select Personal Reasons.

12. 

Click the Submit button.

 

The Voluntary Separation confirmation page displays with a message window.

13. 

The message reminds you to direct the employee to print and complete the steps of Employee Separation Checklists.

Select the OK button for the message window.

14. 

Select the OK button on the confirmation page.

15. 

The employee will be terminated on the date you identified as the separation effective date.
